The first joint venture for Isle of Media and Halcyone Studios was co-hosting a banquet reception in China. The event took place in Shanghai and was attended by leading figures from Shanghai Media Group, China Telecom, Education, Medical and the Chinese authorities.
The CEO of Halcyone Studios, Rachel Giles says:
“Our team had a busy and successful time in China. We are working hard on an animation education project – which is being produced in both the Isle of Man and China – with our long standing Chinese partners. This visit and the reception helped to build bridges and push the project many steps forward.”
The series being made on the island by Halcyone Studios will be its first animation and educational series for pre-school children. The new series is the brainchild of multi Bafta and Emmy award winner, Jean Flynn. Over their 40 years in the industry, the world class team assembled at Halcyone Studios has been honoured with a string of awards.
The teams unique heritage and history is easily recognizable to many, due to their past projects of children’s classics, such as Danger Mouse, Count Duckula, BFG, Noddy, Andy Pandy, Chuggington, Postman Pat, Pip Ahoy! and The Wind in the Willows.
Michael Wilson, CEO of Isle of Media, is looking forward to a bright future with Halcyone Studios:
“We have many great partnerships in Europe and North America. To support a reception in China made perfect sense in pushing the strengths the Isle of Man has as a location for media and creative businesses. We are delighted to partner with Rachel and her team in this exciting venture.”
Halcyone Studios is looking forward to becoming a center of excellence for training and programme making. The studio aims to be offering and advertising full time roles in the near future.
