Actresses Helena Bonham Carter and Olivia Williams have both been nominated for Best Actress by the 2003 British Independent Film awards for their role in ‘The Heart of Me’ which was produced in conjunction with the Isle of Man Film Commission.
In addition to this, Romola Garai has been nominated as Most Promising Newcomer for the her role in ‘I Capture the Castle’, which was also produced in conjunction with the Isle of Man Film Commission.
Created in 1998, the British Independent Film Awards set out to celebrate merit and achievement in independently funded British filmmaking, to honour new talent, and to promote British films and filmmaking to a wider public. Last year, Manx film ‘The Lawless Heart’ was nominated for five awards, including best film and won one for best screenplay.
The British Independent Film Awards will take place on November 4th 2003 at Hammersmith Palais, Hammersmith, London.
