“The Libertine” deal announced

Isle of Man Film, production company Mr. Mudd and First Choice Films, the equity film partnership, have agreed terms to co-finance the feature film The Libertine enabling the UK shoot to go ahead as planned next week. The film which stars Johnny Depp, John Malkovich and Samantha Morton will shoot on the Isle of Man in April. The Libertine faced the prospect of immediate closure and the loss of 150 crew jobs following the announcement on 10th February of UK government changes in the tax laws.

Our next film : “On A Clear Day”

Isle of Man Treasury have signed approval for “On A Clear Day”, which is due to be filmed on the Island 21st June to 10 July 2004. The film stars Brenda Blethyn, Peter Mullan and Bob Hoskins.

 

Paul Bettany receives award for “The Heart of Me”

Paul Bettany received the Best Actor award last night at the Evening Standard Awards in London for his role in “The Heart of Me” and “Master and Commander”. “The Heart of Me” was filmed on the Island in 2001 and also stars Helena Bonham Carter and Olivia Williams, who has already won an award at the British Independent Film awards for her part in the film.

 

Our next Production – “Colour Me Kubrick”

Plans for our next Production, ‘Colour Me Kubrick’ have now been finalised and the Production Company is due to start filming on the Island in February 2004. The film is based on the true story of Alan Conway, the middle-aged Londoner who assumed Stanley Kubrick’s identity over a period of years. The lead role is being played by John Malkovich and also stars TV’s Jim Davidson, Prunella Scales, and Leslie Phillips.
