The Isle of Man passionately fosters talent development, in the Island’s schools, in the University College, in industry and in the wider community. The University College offers a long standing  education in Digital Media for Film, Broadcasting and Animation, Computer Science  and Entrepreneurship.

Into Film, a charity educating young people through studying and making film operates in twenty schools across the Isle of Man. The CodeClub and Barclay’s EagleLab offer students hands-on computing and tech experience.

Traineee - Isle of Man Film - Isle of Media

Under the banner of the Mannin Shorts scheme filmmakers hone their skills, develop their ideas and make films on the Isle of Man. You will find many of the Island’s residents engaged in film making and background acting, owing to the long heritage of film making in the Isle of Man over many years.Mannin Shorts focuses on making short films.

Professional recruitment agencies help you to find on- and off-island talent. There is a low unemployment rate on the Isle of Man, and as such, depending on what type of skill base you are looking for, you may have to bring over staff in certain skilled areas to the Isle of Man as new workers. A work permit system is in operation, albeit not for certain sectors such as IT professionals. It is worth contact someone from the Isle of Media who can put you in touch with the relevant department of the Isle of Man Government, who will be able to advise you on all of these points. Currently the government also has assistance for recruitment costs, if this needs to be done outside the Isle of Man, for those companies setting up businesses on the Island.
