A young spinster named Beatrix Potter overcomes a domineering and unsupportive mother and the chauvinism of Victorian England to become a published author. Beatrix boldly presents her characters to publishers Frederick and Charles Warne, who surprisingly agree to publish her ‘bunny book’, The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Unbeknownst to Beatrix, they do so in order to satisfy their younger brother Norman’s desire to work in the publishing firm, secure in the knowledge that the book will fail. The book becomes the best-selling children’s story ever, and Beatrix’s relationship with Norman blossoms into a secret love-affair.
